Interval Exercise

Settings

The lowest tone of each question is chosen between your floor note and the root range below; other notes are that root plus stacked intervals (no separate ceiling). Harmonic first, then silence and arpeggios when enabled. Settings are saved in this browser.

Notes (harmonic size):
Lowest note (floor):
Root range above floor:
Up to +12 half steps (max 18 = 1.5 oct); highest root ≈ G4

For 3 or 4 notes, voicings follow real chord shapes (triads and sevenths, including inversions). The bass is still picked in your root range; upper notes follow that voicing.

Tempo (arpeggio spacing): 90 BPM
Pause after harmonic: 2.1 s
Gap before descending: 0.3 s
Pause before next question: 0.9 s
Single interval (between two notes):

How it works

  1. Set your floor note, then how far above it the lowest tone of each question may be (1–18 half steps, up to 1.5 octaves). The chord’s top note follows from the intervals.
  2. Choose 2, 3, or 4 notes per harmonic.
  3. For 2 notes, pick which interval sizes are allowed. For 3 or 4 notes, pick triad or seventh chord voicings (major, minor, diminished, augmented, dom7, maj7, m7, half-dim, etc., including inversions).
  4. Adjust the pause after the harmonic block and the tempo for the arpeggios.
  5. After the harmonic, the answer appears when the pause after tonic begins (before any arpeggio). The next round starts after the arpeggios and the pause before next question.
